Located directly across the street from Penn State University, Mr. Charles first opened its doors in 1940 when my grandparents, Charles and Mary
Louise Petnick, opened the store. Having been the buyer since graduating from college, my Mom ultimately took over the store in 1995. In 2006 my Mom and I teamed up to launch the store's website, www.mrcharlesshop.com!
As the buyers, we live in Manhattan; there's no better place to
forecast
trends than from here! It's our goal to offer our customers classic
staples
as well as the latest trends, so we always carry just the right balance
of
familiar brands and emerging lines.
For over 65 years now Mr. Charles has been the place to go for fashion
in
State College. We have a fiercely loyal following of local women, and
new
fans develop annually when students arrive at Penn State...their Mom's
usually become fans as well. Now, no matter where they live and no
matter
the stores to which they have access, they return to us for the
personal
attention and wardrobe building theyšve been depending upon for years.
We hope the launch of our website will make servicing our long-time
